I’ve put together a chronoflow diagram showing world events and people who influenced Paramahansa Yogananda (directly and indirectly), as well as historical time periods in India, and some scientific discoveries. I’ve also included some modern scientific theories and discoveries that might influence how we might interpret Yogananda’s work looking back from our modern perspective.
You might ask why I decided to go all the way back to the first homo sapiens – how is that relevant? In the SRF Lessons and other writings, Yogananda says that the human body was divinely created and SRF also believes in the concept of recurring yuga cycles and a past Indian golden age, so I thought I would include a reference to how old human beings are as well as the first (that we know of) developments of pottery and agriculture.
I have included some of the Indian historical periods to show the time periods in which some of the Indian texts are dated to, and also because SRF has also made incorrect references to the age of India.
This is an unofficial, personal interpretation. I’m limited by the free version of Chronoflow which allows 50 events per timeline. I’m sorry some of the heads are cut off in the photos – the free version limits me to photos available on Wikipedia.
